Becoming a SPCA member is just one way of supporti Becoming a SPCA member is just one way of supporting us and all that we do. Our members enjoy early bird registration to our events such as Paws to the Park and Fizz and Flowers, both of which sold out last year. It also allows early registration to camps. You can also receive a discount at a number of local businesses. One of these is @selectronbermuda who we are thrilled to collaborate with. Here’s what they had to say:

“Having adopted some special dogs from the SPCA over the years, and continue to Selectron Ltd. are proud to partner with the SPCA with special thanks to all of the amazing staff that work tirelessly for such a great cause. We continue to support all and would like to further this support by offering a 15% discount on all parts for new home security installations for both intrusion detection and CCTV camera systems to all members of the SPCA”
Martin and his team have supported the SPCA over a number of years, most recently Martin adopted Taco, who looks to be settling quite well! 💙

Every day our team works with our shelter animals Every day our team works with our shelter animals to ensure that they receive the best possible start on their journey to find a family.
For our dogs, kennels are a stressful environment for any dog, we work hard to identify any challenging behaviours and deal with them before they become unmanageable.
As well as our fantastic team we are grateful to have the support of people such as Eileen Thorne of @pawsitivepuppybermuda who comes and trains with our team on a regular basis and also our volunteers who play an active part in socialising and training.
So, as well as ensuring all our animals are fit and healthy before they go to their family we also ensure they are mentally ready, for the safety of everyone. Whether it means socialising our guinea pigs or training with our dogs. 💙
*not all volunteers are put in a pen 😉

Shelter dog or dog from a breeder? Some things you Shelter dog or dog from a breeder?
Some things you may wish to consider once you have decided to add a dog to your family.
🐾Has the dog/puppy you are considering had all the appropriate health checks, been vaccinated, received a flea and worm treatment? All of our shelter dogs have, a reputable breeder will also ensure all this is carried out as well.
🐾All dogs/ puppy’s leaving the shelter are spayed/ neutered. In the case of puppies it is part of the adoption agreement that your puppy must be spayed or neutered.
🐾Is the dog/ puppy you are thinking about going to be a good option for your family? At the SPCA, part of the adoption process is that we meet with the whole family including any other dogs you have to ensure everyone is going to be happy together.
🐾Has the dog/ puppy you want to bring into your home been temperament tested to ensure any negative behaviours have been identified? Every animal that comes into the shelter is temperament tested, firstly as part of our triage process when they enter the shelter and then at regular times during their stay with us. Did you know that good and bad temperament can be passed along through generations? a good breeder will ensure correct temperaments are being passed along breeding lines.
🐾Will the dog/ puppy be happy in your home? All of our shelter dogs receive basic training, if they are old enough they will be potty trained, crate trained and know how to behave in a family home. You will also be given the opportunity to continue this training if you want to and our team will always be available should you have any questions.
For more information or to meet one of our dogs (or cats or rabbits or guinea pigs) looking for a home please email info@spca.bm 💙

Can you give our superman Luigi a home? Here’s w Can you give our superman Luigi a home?
Here’s what his amazing foster mum had to say about him:
He’s an absolute gem in the house, crate trained, house broken, good sleeper. He LOVES as cuddle on the sofa especially with some blankets. Enjoys his chew toys and funny zoomies. The beach is a blast for him. He loves digging and running around and just starting to learn to go in the water. Ideal citizen in the car as just lays in the back seat quietly and calmly. He’s a kissing machine and a total love bug. Love people and good with all ages.
He’s enjoyed a trip to Brew and a puppichino and afternoon inside a restaurant at Taste. He walks very well on a leash.
He’s met my cat through the baby’s gate many times and not reacted so should be able to live with a cat.
To find out more about Luigi or to arrange to meet him, please email info@spca.bm 💙
Luigi is a restricted breed so he will need a fenced area, however our team will be able to advise you on this, there are many options available.
