The Bermuda SPCA has added a new fundraiser to its social calendar.

Through the Whiskers & Wine event, the island’s only recognised animal welfare society hopes to benefit the shelter’s animals.

“We have been looking for an event that gives us an opportunity to get to know our supporters and the island’s animal lovers,” SPCA executive director Deborah Titterton Narraway said.

“We are excited to host this event on the SPCA property and share all the exciting and new projects in the works to benefit the community.”

The charity added that the fundraiser would help cover treatment for animals with special medical needs, enrichment activities that improve the comfort of the shelter animals, volunteer activities as well as welfare and cruelty investigations.

The event will allow staff and volunteers to provide guided tours of the new Stempel Stables, the area designated for the new multi-purpose park/dog park and the new outdoor cat extension area.

While some areas will off limits to avoid causing the animals stress, many of the cats and small mammals will be able to be viewed.

Gosling’s will provide speciality wines along with Tito’s Handmade Vodka cocktails created by Twisted Spoon Mobile Craft Cocktail Bar. Nibbles will be provided by Bermuda Restaurants Group and Miles Market. There will also be door prizes, a silent auction and the annual raffle appeal will be drawn at 8.30pm.

The event will be held from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on September 24 at the SPCA Shelter, 32 Valley Road Paget. Parking will be available at St Paul’s Church parking lot, with shuttles running to the shelter. Tickets cost $60 and can be purchased at the SPCA’s website.
